The food we grow, purchase, cook, and eat connects us all and has a tremendous impact on our social, economic, and physical health. Today the food system in the U.S. is broken and millions of Americans lack access to healthy, affordable, sustainable and fair food. The complex system of regulatory and legislative policies that impact our food system is largely to blame for many of these failures, and is in urgent need of strategic and thoughtful reform.
After several years of supporting direct-service organizations, the Osprey Foundation has embraced a strategy of improving our domestic food system through advocacy. We leverage strategic grants and partnerships to build the advocacy capacity of the Good Food Movement. Our tactics include galvanizing the movement around a focused set of policy priorities, supporting public education around the importance of food policy, and empowering advocates who are uniquely positioned to make change at the local, state and federal level.
The JBF Impact Programs bring together constituents from the culinary community to dissect issues and facilitate participation around the biggest challenges facing our society.
Launched in 2012, the Food Policy Action Education Fund seeks to educate citizens about the impact that food policies have on their everyday lives.
